Devotees Flock To Tirumala For Darshan Over Long Weekend

Tirumala: A series of holidays drove devotees for darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Among them were a number of VIPs including deputy speaker of AP assembly Kona Raghupathi, minister Jayaram and former deputy chief minister of Telangana, Kadiyam Srihari, among others. Srihari remarked that the bond of reciprocity which cemented AP-Telangana ties, was a good sign. Andhra Pradesh for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories, G. Jayaram told media persons that the government would set up village secretariats and village volunteers. He added that 75% of the jobs in industries would be reserved for locals.

With second Saturday, Sunday and Eid-ul-Azha holidays, followed by Independence Day after two days, marking Pournami (full moon night), devotees are seen flocking to Tirumala, Tirupati for a darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The hill shrine is teeming with devotees as a result of which break darshan has been cancelled on Monday and Tuesday, according to the TTD authorities. The officials also stated that arrangements are being made to ensure that pilgrims are not put to hardship.
