Vijayawada: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu seemed upbeat after the BJP welcomed him back in the NDA fold. He is hopeful of wresting the power from ruling YSRCP in the upcoming Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.

A confident TDP-BJP-JanaSena alliance released their much-awaited poll manifesto on Tuesday. However, it turned out to be a huge embarrassment to Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan as the BJP ally’s state president Purandeswari was conspicuous by her absence at the event. From BJP’s side senior leader Siddharth Nath Singh attended the programme but he refused to even hold the manifesto which is supposed to be a common manifesto of the opposition alliance.

The striking feature of the TDP+ manifesto was that the photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda and AP BJP chief Purandeswari were missing on the cover. It is learnt that the BJP leadership had warned the TDP not to include their leader’s photos in it.

According to the BJP sources, the party leadership is averse to inclusion of PM Modi’s photos in the manifesto as Naidu had included the photo of PM Modi in the 2014 election manifesto but failed to fulfill the promises made to the people of the state. It may be recalled here that a few senior BJP leaders have stated in the recent past that after coming to power in Telugu states, the BJP would scrap the reservation for Muslims.
