​Vietnam’s Bikini Airlines to ​Woo Indian Travellers​

Controversial Vietnam airlines Viet jet Air, popularly called as bikini airline has announced its operations in India from July this year. The Vietnamese airline will operate four direct flights a week, between Ho Chi Minh City in Southern Vietnam and Delhi. The airlines announced the news on its 45th anniversary of India-Vietnam diplomatic relationship.

Viet jet, which started its operations in 2012, grabbed the headlines after the founder Nguyen Thi Phung Thao's proposed attire of the pilots and flight attendants. The flight staff, which shocked the passengers with their bikini clad look, has brought the airline a lot of attention.

The airlines also received severe backlash on social media after it started organising on-board ramp walks, which showed the models walking down the aisle in swim suits. The Vietnam government has also imposed a fine on the airlines in the beginning for its sleazy promotion.

But the controversies of the airline did not seem to have any impact on its growth. The airline has shown a significant growth since its launch in 2011. In the latest quarter, it notched up a profit of a whopping 75.9 percent.

The Viet jet comprises 55 A320 and A321 aircraft and other 385 flights, which it runs in 82 domestic and international routes.
