Warangal: In a heinous act, a nine-month-old baby girl was killed after a man sexually assaulted and killed her. The atrocious incident took place at Tailors’ street in Hanamkonda, Warangal in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the details, the infant, Shritha was asleep on the terrace of the house along with her parents. A man, identified as Kolepaka Praveen (28) of Madaram village in Parkal Mandal had entered the house, climbed the terrace and abducted the baby. However, the parents and the other family members woke up and thrashed the assailant. In the scuffle, the accused attempted to flee, however, he was not successful. While the baby was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Hanmakonda, the doctors declared her brought dead.

The accused was handed over to the police and the body of the baby has been shifted to MGM Hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered against the accused, who has been taken into police custody. The family members are demanding harsh treatment for the accused.

Protests erupted all over Hanamkonda with the public staging agitations on the roads demanding justice for the victim and severe punishment to the culprit.

Panchayat Raj Minister E. Dayakar Rao, who belongs to the same district, said the incident had shocked the entire society. He directed the police to take immediate stringent action against the accused.
