Pedavegi Rural: A farmer named Satyanarayana has filed a case against former MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and his supporters for allegedly stealing pipes set up to draw water on the Polavaram canal. According to a police report, three years ago, the then legislator Chintamaneni Prabhakar diverted the ponds to supply the Godavari water from the Polavaram right bank to the Krishna river through the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation scheme. These pipes are used for irrigation in the villages of Pedavegi Mandal, Denduluru, Pedavegi, Pedapadu and Eluru Rural zones.

The pipes were then set up by the ruling party under the guidance of the then MLA Prabhakar. Chintamaneni charged from farmers at the rate of Rs 1,000 per acre annually. However, as of midnight on Monday, the pipes were moved by the followers. This caused resentment among farmers, who staged protests on the roads. Farmers are concerned that they have been paid more than the required rate and that the pipes getting stolen, makes their situation even worse. They alleged that Chintamaneni is indulging in such terrible acts after losing the elections. YSRCP district spokesman Kotaru Ramachandra Rao has demanded immediate action on those who stole the pipes. On the complaint lodged by Satyanarayana, the police filed a case against Chintamaneni Prabhakar and four others, Dirusu Satyanarayana, Chilakalapudi Narendra, Kamma Pakiriyya and Gadde Kishore. Chintamani is mentioned as the main accused. The police has booked cases against the former TDP MLA under sections 420, 384 and 431, it is learnt.
