
Hyderabad: Telangana schools re-open on Wednesday after a long extended summer holiday. In a bid to ensure safety for school children in the wake of reports of several school buses lacking fitness certificates, surprise checks were carried out on 300 school buses in the last five days. Reportedly, 1,400 out of 2,321 buses lack fitness certificates.
The schools' administration have been asked to rectify the anomalies before the buses start plying.
According to the new academic calendar issued by the education department, all schools will reopen on June 12 and work for 232 days with the last working day being April 23, 2020. In line with the education department's safety drive, there are 30-40 guidelines which are to follow by the school buses. Based on the guidelines the auditing of school buses were done in Hyderabad, a police official said.
There has also been awareness drive among parents who are asked to check the fitness certificate of the school buses.
Also, school management are asked to make details of bus drivers and make it available to parents and are also asked to conduct regular health check-ups of driver and helpers.
