Hyderabad: In a bid to make a major turnaround in the functioning and to strengthen the organisational structure of the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS), party working president K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) has begun making strides towards turning the TRS into a strong and sound political force. By way of internal elections for every two years, the TRS plans to carry out regular membership drives and elect village level party presidents. Post Panchayat Raj elections this month, the TRS would conduct internal elections and keep an eye on party workers, who were not being taken care of until now.

In stages, the TRS plans to conduct village and mandal level committee elections. Later, either district or constituency level polls would be conducted before electing KCR as the party president on April 27. With a view to increase the party's involvement in government's decision-making, the party plans to increase membership upto 75 lakh, a target that is nearly double the 2017 membership tally of 43 lakh, by Lok Sabha elections.

TRS offices in districts

Almost immediately after taking over as the party president, KTR focused on the construction of party offices in district headquarters. Already, the party offices in Warangal and Jangaon have been inaugurated. A spree of inaugurations are scheduled to be undertaken after Sankranti with an aim to wrap up the construction by Lok Sabha polls.

Also, a public grievance cell would be set up in Telangana Bhavan to facilitate improved coordination between the party and the government. The grievance mechanism would report the public issues to the officials or MLAs concerned.
