The Kodad assembly constituency in the undivided Nalgonda district was represented in the recently dissolved House by Nalamada Padmavathi Reddy, wife of TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, who himself won from the constituency on two occasions. In the upcoming elections, Padmavathi will face Bollam Mallaiah Yadav, a TDP candidate in 2014 and currently a TRS candidate. In the past, the constituency was a bastion of the TDP and then of the Congress after Uttam's election in 1999.

Although the TRS was critical of Padmavathi's candidature in the context of the agitation in 2014, she sailed through with a majority of 13,374 votes. With an added advantage of the influence of the TDP supporters and sympathizers in Kodad, Padmavathi is all set for yet another victory in the upcoming polls, experts say.

Going by the popular perception and majority opinion, the 2,23,607 voters of the Huzurnagar assembly constituency in the undivided Nalgonda district will all but re-elect Uttam Kumar Reddy in the December 7 polls. The TRS leaders were and continue to be critical of his candidature against TRS candidate A Shankaramma, mother of Telangana martyr A Sreekanthachary, in 2014.

However, the TRS fielded Shanampudi Saidi Reddy opposite Uttam this time around, part of TRS chief KCR's special focus on the constituencies being represented by senior Congress leaders. It becomes a challenge for Uttam to focus on canvassing in his constituency while monitoring the party affairs across the State in his capacity as the party president.
