The Visakhapatnam Meteorological Department has stated that a surface cycle is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal and the northwestern Bay of Bengal by the 15th of this month.

This is likely to cause hypothermia in the next 48 hours. Heavy rains are expected in the North Coast and Krishna districts till May 17, officials said.
The surface period in the west central Bay of Bengal along the Northern coast is 3.1 km above sea level. From 5.8 km, the elevation would be on the south side. The Centre has forecast light to moderate rains in many parts of the state in the next 48 hours.

East Godavari: Authorities have alerted the relief machinery as the storm is likely to intensify in the next 48 hours.  Authorities said strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph were expected along the east coast until August 17 due to low pressure. The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen against venturing out into the sea. The Collector has ordered setting up of a control room in the divisional and zonal centers in coordination with the defense and support departments.
