17 Feb, 2026 16:40 IST|Sakshi Post
Many students and parents are wondering whether February 18 will be declared a school holiday. As per the current academic and government calendars, February 18 is a regular working day in most states, since there are no major national festivals, public holidays, or special statewide occasions scheduled for tomorrow.
Schools, colleges, and government offices are expected to function as usual unless a local district administration announces a special closure due to weather conditions, local events, or administrative reasons.
States Where Schools Will Function Normally
In the absence of any notified public holiday, schools are expected to remain open in the following major states:
- Telangana – Regular classes likely to continue as usual.
- Andhra Pradesh – No official holiday notification issued.
- Karnataka – Schools functioning as per academic calendar.
- Kerala – No festival or government-declared holiday.
- Tamil Nadu – Regular working day.
- Delhi – Schools open unless individual institutions announce otherwise.
- Uttar Pradesh – No statewide holiday declared.
- Maharashtra – Regular academic schedule expected.
- Gujarat – No official holiday.
- Rajasthan – Schools likely to operate normally.
- West Bengal – No public holiday scheduled.
- Madhya Pradesh – Regular working day.
- Bihar – No announced closure.
- Punjab & Haryana – Schools open unless local orders are issued.
Are There Any Exceptions?
At present, there are no confirmed statewide school holidays for February 18. However, closures may occur in specific districts due to:
- Local elections
- Weather-related disruptions (heavy rain, fog, etc.)
- Administrative or law-and-order reasons
- Local observances or regional events
- Students and parents are advised to check:
- Official state government notifications
- District collector announcements
- School management circulars
- Local education department websites
Final Update
As of now, February 18 is not a public holiday in most Indian states, and schools are expected to remain open. Unless a last-minute district-level order is issued, it will be a regular academic day across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and other states.
