Hyderabad Sankranti Celebrations: Kite, Hot Air Balloon, and Drone Festivals Announced with Dates and Timings

The International Kite and Sweet Festival at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The three-day festival will run from January 13 to January 15 and is part of the State government’s Sankranti celebrations under the theme ‘Celebrate the Sky’.

The event will bring together professional kite flyers from 19 countries along with 55 participants from various Indian States. In addition to daytime displays, the festival will also feature night kite-flying sessions, offering visitors a unique visual experience.

Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has invited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to attend the series of events organised by the Telangana government as part of the Sankranti festivities.

International Kite and Sweet Festival

The International Kite Festival at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, will be open to the public from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on January 13, 14 and 15.

Hot Air Balloon Festival

The Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held from January 16 to January 18. Morning balloon rides will take place at three tentative locations on the outskirts of Hyderabad, while evening sessions will be organised at the Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, from 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m., as per official communication from the Tourism Department.

Drone Festival at Gachibowli Stadium

The Drone Festival will be hosted at Gachibowli Stadium on January 16 and 17, with events scheduled between 10.00 a.m./12.00 p.m. and 8.30/9.00 p.m. The festival will feature drone soccer matches, competitive drone races, and aerial airshows, according to Tourism Department officials.
