
In a significant administrative move, the Telangana government, through a series of three government orders, announced on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the division of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate municipal corporations. The decision follows the recent reorganisation of civic administration within the Hyderabad metropolitan region.

Under the restructuring, areas within the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) will now be governed by three distinct civic bodies:
Commissioner appointments announced
As per a separate Government Order, R.V. Karnan will continue as Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
G. Srijana, Additional Commissioner of GHMC, has been transferred and appointed as Commissioner of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, while T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, also an Additional Commissioner, has been posted as Commissioner of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
Legal framework and oversight
According to the official notification, each newly constituted corporation will function as an independent civic body with perpetual succession and a common seal, operating under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955.
The reorganisation order was signed by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department, and took effect immediately. In a related development, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao appointed Mr. Ranjan as Special Officer for all three municipal corporations.
