Superstar Mahesh Babu's 26th movie Sarileru Neekevvaru was launched officially on Friday with a pooja ceremony at 9.18 am at the Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. Interestingly, the launch was held on Mahesh Babu's father and legendary actor Krishna's birthday.

The team of Sarileru Neekevvaru teased the fans with the title announcement on Twitter.

Under the direction of Anil Ravipudi, the mass entertainer will be produced by Anil Sunkara and Dil Raju with association from Mahesh Babu's production house G Mahesh Babu Entertainment as well.

Legendary director K Raghavendra Rao launched the film with the first clap. While veteran producer Shyam Prasad Reddy switched on the camera, Anil Ravipudu directed the first shot. Actress Rashmika Mandanna has been paired opposite Mahesh Babu for the first time in this movie. Speaking about the movie, director Anil Ravipudu said, "I am super-excited to start shooting with Mahesh Babu. The movie has great cast in terms of Mahesh Babu and Rashmika, veteran actress Vijayashanti and Jagapathi Babu. Also, Devi Sri Prasad, who delivered chartbusters with Maharshi will be working on this project. So, I'm hoping he will once again deliver blockbuster music for this Sarileru Neekevvaru."

When quipped about the military rifle next to the title on the poster of the movie, the director revealed that Mahesh Babu will be essaying the role of a Army Major, hence the representation.

While the main crew of the movie was present at the Muhurat Shot, it was surprising to notice that Mahesh Babu was missing at the launch. As per the sources, Mahesh Babu is currently on a family holiday in London and will commence shoot on the movie, upon his return to India.

Sarileru Neekevvaru will go on the floors from the end of June and is scheduled to hit the screens next year during Sankranti festival. Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu's latest release Maharshi has gone on to become the biggest grosser of his career and is still going strong at box office.
