Rajamouli Impersonator Extorts 50 Lakhs From Woman Promising Mother’s Role in RRR

Hyderabad: A man named V Naresh Kumar alias Adithya alias Jay was arrested by Hyderabad Central Zone Task Force police for allegedly cheating a woman advocate (73) of Rs 50 lakhs by promising her a role in Rajamouli's multistarrer 'RRR'. The cops also arrested Naresh Kumar's friends K Somanna and M Rama Krishna for abusing and threatening the woman on Thursday.

DCP Radhakishan Rao said that, Naresh Kumar, a resident of Kondapur was working as an office boy in Banjara Hills. He found the female lawyer's mobile number through Just Dial a phone directory services provider and approached her claiming to be a film producer and that he needed some legal advice. Over the course of telephonic conversations' that he had with her, he told her that he was a film producer and was very close to Baahubali famed director SS Rajamouli. He told her that he was producing "RRR"with his and that there was a requirement for an actress to play a mothers role. He asked her if she was interested in playing the role to which she readily agreed and told him that she had also pursued a short term acting course. He went on to the extent of calling her from three different numbers imitating Rajamouli's voice and interviewed her on the phone. He told her that her role was confirmed and that she had to register in the film chamber of commerce and other film bodies.

For this purpose Naresh made the lady transfer Rs 50 lakhs to 15 different bank accounts which belonged to his friends, from January to June this year on the pretext of taking membership.

Not stopping there, on April 17 Naresh told her that his car was under repair and borrowed the advocate's car and took that away.

Recently, Naresh's friends Somanna and Rama Krishna too called the lady and asked for more money. She said that she had no money left and asked about the car. They began abusing and threatening her if she asked for the car again and later switched off all their phones. Realising that she had been duped she approached the police. Central Zone Task Force Inspector S Srinivasa Rao and SI Srinivasulu along with a team of officials caught Naresh and his two friends on Thursday. The other 15 friends who gave their accounts for the cash are yet to be ascertained, meanwhile the accused have been sent to Boinpally police.

The police said that Naresh was involved in a similar case of cheating in Guntur and there was complaint filed in Kollipara PS. Since he had not appeared before the court for hearing, a non-bailable warrant was also issued in his name. Based in this the police are also investigating the angle if he had cheated others also.
