Strangers Befriend Woman, Threaten To Upload Obscene Pictures On Facebook For Money

Krishna District: Four people were arrested for harassing and molesting a married woman. The incident came to light after the victim filed a complaint with the Penamuluru police.

According to police officials, the victim Durga Bhavani got married to Srinivas 18 years ago. The couple had two children. Meanwhile, an auto driver, Pratap Kumar became friends with the woman two years ago and later sexually harassed her several times. He also threatened to post obscene photos of her on Facebook, and blackmailed her into gicing him gold and cash.

The accused and his followers Ravi, Ramesh and Ravindra threatened the woman and took 30 grams of gold and Rs 1.5 lakh rupees. Since he was asking more money, the woman left to her brother's house which is in kaanuru. Pratap Kumar learned about her whereabouts and harassed her one more time. He also harmed her for more money. Then the victim approached the Penamaluru police and lodged a complaint who took the four accused into custody and filed a case against them.

Recently, in a similar incident, a man was arrested Adambakkam for sexually harassing a 10-year-old kid. The accused was identified as Vinoth Kumar (28) who runs a car wash center in Adambakkam.

According to the police, the boy who was playing in front of his house was kidnapped by Vinoth at Ambedkar Nagar. The boy was taken to a secluded place and Vinoth tried to take off the boy's clothes. When he screamed, the accused slapped the boy and touched his private parts.

However, the boy managed to escape from him and reached his house. He complained to his mother about the man's indecent act.

After a confrontation with the accused, the boy's parents lodged a complaint at the Adambakkam police station. Based on their complaint, the police filed a case under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police started investigating the matter.

Preliminary investigaion revealed that Vinoth used a pen spy camera to record the entire incident so he can make money by threatening the boy's parents. The accused was arrested and the police seized the pen camera. He was produced before Alandhur court.
