Case booked against MLC's son in Anantapur dt

Anantapur police have registered cases against Ashok, the son of TDP MLC Samantakamani, and others for attacking Sakshi media persons on Saturday.

TDP leaders were selecting the list of beneficiaries of pensions on Saturday at a private function hall. On getting information on the same, Sakshi reporter Ramana Reddy and photographer Veeresh went there to cover the item and take photographs of the same.

As per the reports, the TDP leaders omitted the names of supporters of YSRCP and other parties and filled the entire list with the supporters of TDP.

On seeing the Sakshi journalists, Ashok, ex MPP Srinivasa Reddy, Singanamala MPTC Chidambaram and others attacked them. The TDP men dragged them to Samantakamani who was in first floor of the building. Some of them took away the camera from the photographer and deleted the captured images. After that, the ruling party men sent them out of the building.

Based on the complaint of the journalists, the police registered cases against Ashok and three others under the sections 143,323,506 and 302.

Protesting against the attack on Sakshi journalists, all journalist associations called for protests in the entire district on Sunday.
