YS Jagan Attack Case: High Court Rejects AP Government’s House Motion

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government faced a setback in the case related to the murder attempt on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, 2018. The state government has been desperately trying to wrest the case from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) leading to a lot of speculation on its intentions.

On Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh government submitted a house motion petition in the AP High Court. The Court however, rejected the motion and further clarified that there was no urgency to take up the house motion.

Sujata Sarma, a lawyer representing the Leader of Opposition in AP assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stated that the AP government tried to move a house motion on a Saturday, knowing that it was the weekend. She told the media that the High Court had rejected the motion saying that there was no urgency in the matter. She further observed that initially Chandrababu Naidu had himself commented that the airport area where the murder attempt took place was under the jurisdiction of the central government. Now, he is making every effort to block the NIA probe, she added, observing that the conspiracy angle would be exposed. The lawyer further stated that they would present their arguments clearly and firmly before the Court on Monday.
