NIA Court Sends Attacker In YS Jagan Murder Attempt To Judicial Remand

Vijayawada: Janupalli Srinivasa Rao, the accused in the murder attempt case on the Leader of Opposition in AP assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been sentenced to judicial remand by the NIA court till 25 January.

The judge adjourned further hearing on the petition filed by NIA officials that AP police and Special Investigation Team are not cooperating in the case, to 23 January. Court also ordered NIA and SIT officials to file a memo.

Since one week's NIA custody ended on Friday, the accused was taken to Vijayawada government hospital for a health check-up. Later he was produced before the court. when the judge questioned the accused whether he had faced any difficulties with the NIA officials, Srinivasa Rao replied in the negative.

The accused requested the Court to allow him to interact with the media, but the court denied him permission. Srinivasa Rao’s lawyer, Saleem pleaded with the Court that his client is facing lack of proper security in Vijayawada. Upon confirming with the government lawyer that providing security to the accused cannot be possible, the Court ordered the accused to be shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail. The accused will be shifted to RCJ amidst high security.
