Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency has been the playground for Titans. This constituency has been the battlefield for prominent politicians and social activists, until 2004, when the power was taken over by business tycoons.

And till date, the seat has been ruled by businessmen.

In the 2019 elections, let's have a look at the candidates:

.Ruling Telugu Desam Party has fielded sitting MP Kesineni Srinivas, known as Nani. He runs a transport business

.YSR Congress Party has fielded actor Potluri Veera Prasad known as PVP

.BJP has chosen lawyer Kilaru Dileep Kumar

Congress and Jana Sena are also contesting from this assembly seat

A brief history into the prestigious seat:

Dr KL Rao was elected into the seat from 1962 till 1971. He lost in 1977 on Janata Party ticket to Congress' Godey Murahari.

.Leading businessman Dasari Jai Ramesh made an unsuccessful attempt to win the seat in 1998 on a TDP ticket. He lost to Congress' Upendra.

.In 2004, the constituency saw a battle between Lanco chief Rajagopal from Congress and Jai Ramesh (TDP). Rajagopal defeated Ramesh by 30,000 votes. It from this time that the seat has been taken by businessmen.

Rajagopal won in 2004 and 2009. He quit active politics after the state's bifurcation.

.In 2014, Kesineni Travels owner Srinivas won the seat

It now remains to be seen, who gets the hold of this battle for supremacy from the constituency.
