Mylavaram: The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are ready to go to any extent to win the elections. They are trying all methods to influence the voters to cast their vote and now they are reportedly targeting the Postal Ballots, which play a crucial role in the election results in the state.

In the Mylavaram constituency, the local TDP leaders are shelling out money ranging from one thousand rupees to three thousand to buy these postal ballots.

According to reports, in Lakkireddy Hanimi Reddy Government School in Mylavaram,TDP cadre were seen trying to woo the Polling officials who had come for Election duty training there. More than 1200 officials from five Mandals were there for election training schedule and were handed the Postal Ballot papers.

Officials on Election duty are allowed to cast postal ballots when they come for election training sessions. Known as the voting in facilitation centres, the Election Commission has allowed this option for the poll officials to cast their votes.

The TDP cadre were standing next to the Ballot box and seen trying to influence the poll officers. In what could be seen as a pre-planned move the TDP leaders had collected details about the poll officials in almost all constituencies ten days prior to their training sessions. Huge sums of money were sent to the training centres to influence them to cast their Postal vote for the TDP.

In a similar way, the TDP leaders were seen trying to pressurise the Police officials who are on poll duty to cast their postal ballot on behalf of the TDP. It is reported that they are trying to ensure that the papers reach a DSP specially appointed for this purpose.

Even Anganwadi workers, Asha workers were also being influenced to cast their votes this way. The Employees Associations protested against this undue coercion by the TDP and with media getting wind of this, the police were brought in to action. But instead of taking any action they let off the TDP leaders, much to the chagrin of the Employees association members. Mylavaram YSRCP leaders filed a written complaint to the Returning officers there for further action.
