Mylavaram /Vijayawada: Mylavaram Assembly constituency - is located in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh and comes under the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.

As per the estimates of 2011 census, out of total 325359 population 65.38% is rural and 34.62% is urban.

As per the voter list of 2018, there are 229956 voters and 274 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout in the 2014 assembly election was 86% where as it was 85.6% in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. The BJP, the INC, the YSRCP and the TDP got %, 1.46%, 43.24% and 47% votes respectively in 2014 Assembly Election .

It is one of 16 constituencies in the Krishna district with 13 mandals consisting of Ibrahimpatnam, G.Konduru, Mylavaram,Reddigudem, Vijayawada (Rural) Mandal (Part),Kotturu,Tadepalle, Vemavaram, Shabada, Paidurupadu, Rayanapadu, Gollapudi, Jakkampudi Villages

Uma Maheswara Rao Devineni (TDP) is the present MLA of Mylavaram Legislative Assembly. He defeated YRSCP candidate Jogi Ramesh by a majority of 7,569 votes in 2014.

The current YSR Congress Party candidate for this year 2019 is Vasanta Krishna Prasad. Krishna Prasad, is the son of former Home Minister Vasanta Nageswara Rao, and well-known leader in the Vijayawada region. Devineni Uma has the record of winning four assembly elections consecutively from two constituencies and he is trying his luck for the fifth time. However, he may find the contest more difficult this time around.

An entrepreneur, Vasanta Krishna Prasad, the YSRCP candidate, had contested from Nandigama Assembly constituency against Devineni Uma in 1999 and had lost.

Krishna Prasad this time can turn the tables the YSRCP way as Devineni Uma has not yet started campaigning at the field level. There are also reports of groupism in the TDP party cadre and widespread dissent among the people in certain regions.
