It is evident, according to senior YSRCP leaders and analysts, that the dangerous attack on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s life in the VIP lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport yesterday, was a premeditated one. Srinivasa Rao, a waiter in Fusion Foods is certainly not the lone wolf or star-struck fan, as sections of the media are busy portraying him. The fact that he could smuggle a sharp knife into the airport in the guise of being a canteen worker, is just one piece in the puzzle, leaders have pointed out.

The canteen is run by Harshavardhan Prasad, a TDP activist and aspirant for the Gajuwaka assembly constituency. While the DGP of AP police was quick to falsely characterise Srinivasa Rao as a YSRCP fan seeking a selfie with YS Jagan and named his caste as well, as party spokesman Ambati Rambabu pointed out, he made no mention of the canteen contractor.

It is abundantly clear that there is a deeper conspiracy and the suspicions are certainly not unfounded, leaders and analysts have said. If anything the murderous attack was carried out according to a clear plan and analysts have referredt to the fact that people behind this attempt on the life of the Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly kept close tabs on his movements and were aware that he would be returning to Hyderabad by air this afternoon. They had also been observing that the YSRCP chief returned to Hyderabad from Vizag by air regularly over the past two months.

Further, observers have pointed out that the conspirators thought that the safest place to carry out such a murderous attack on YS Jagan‘s life was in the secure premises of the VIP lounge of the airport. The security levels at this VIP lounge in the airport, were relatively lower, they observed. The conspirators behind this intent also realised that it would be easy two smuggle an attacker in the guise of a cafeteria worker and therefore, it was here that in the name of a selfie, the canteen worker, Srinivasa Rao lunged at the YSR Congress president aiming at his neck, YSRCP leaders and political observers have said.

The people’s leader had a providential escape when the knife missed his neck, but it pierced his shoulder causing a deep gash requiring sutures.

Srinivasa Rao appears to be a professional from the manner in which he carried out the vicious attack. It is also clear that he was waiting for an opportune moment to strike. The knife which he carried with him, was extremely sharp and is commonly used, as has been widely reported, in cock fights. Several questions remain answered. Among them the most important one is, how was he allowed to smuggle such a dangerous weapon into the airport? The entire conspiracy has to be unravelled for all the pieces of this puzzle to fit in, because it is clear that it is a deep-rooted plot aimed of carrying out a murderous attack on the life of the Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
