“Will remove attacker's hand”: TDP candidate's threat of violence sparks outrage

Guntur: A shocking statement from Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, the TDP candidate for the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency, has sparked controversy. During an interview with a opposition-friendly media outlet, Chandrasekhar, a medical doctor from the United States, made disturbing remarks about retaliating against potential assaults.

When asked hypothetically about his response if cases were filed against him or if someone attacked him, Chandrasekhar said, "Assaulting someone is illegal. However, if someone accidentally strikes me, I will patiently wait for my time, even if it takes between five to fifteen years, to seek retribution. I will intentionally sever the hand of the person who hit me."

He further added, "If this takes place in the US, the attacker would have been shot dead. YSRCP leaders are behaving like former Iraqi president Saddam Hussain, who was dragged out of a bunker and beaten to death."

These comments made by the TDP Lok Sabha candidate have raised eyebrows and concerns, as they seem to promote violence.  Interestingly, Chandrasekhar, who earned hundreds of crores of rupees during his stay in the US, has been making such distasteful remarks to  showcase his wealth and influence. However, he has failed to explain his plans for the development of the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency.

Chandrasekhar's statements have drawn criticism from various quarters. Leaders from his own party have said that the TDP is struggling to lure the Muslim voters following their alliance with the BJP and these unnecessary comments will further widen the gap between the party and the minority voters.
