The YSR Congress has demanded that the TDP Government should make public the steps it has taken to mitigate drought in the State and immediately pay the input subsidy to the farmers besides working out crop loss compensation.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday Party's Farmers Cell president MVS Nagi Reddy said that all the 13 districts have received deficit rainfall and the drought conditions are more pronounced in Rayalaseema, Prakasam and Nellore districts. He said the state should draw up a plan to mitigate the drought conditions as extent of agricultural operations has come down this Rabi season.

Farmers in the delta region too have been in distress as input subsidy was not paid and the output of cotton, chilli, paddy, red gram and groundnut has fallen drastically, he said.

While the area of agriculture operations has shown an upward trend in rest of the country during the Kharif, the area in the State it has come down. This indicates that the farmers are vexed with the non-waiver of agricultural loans. Chandrababu Naidu has been underplaying the situation by announcing that he has driven the drought away but the reality is different, he said.
