Kirlampudi: Kapu agitation leader and ex-MP Mudragada Padmanabham on Monday stated that when Mohammad Jani had written to the Late Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy about the need for reservation for Muslims, the then chief minister, responded immediately by taking up a feasibility study in just three months and then making way for reservations for the Muslim community.

“Why can't Chandrababu do the same by setting a time limit for the Kapu cause, Mudragada questioned and added that Chandrababu was favourable to them during elections but was resisting them now. He said that 'Kapu Garjana' is only being held to demand the implementation of what was promised to then during elections

Mudragada wants 2000 crores to be allocated towards the community and expressed reservation to the 50-100 crore, that he feels, is being thrown at them as charity and insulting the community.

He pointed out that when Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy was the chief minister, he took just three months to provide a 4 percent reservation to the Muslim community and was successful in implementing it against great odds. He said that it was only due to this reservation, that minority students were able to go sign up for higher studies.
