Today is World Idli Day. Who would have thought this humble steamed food can win so many hearts. Among other things that South Indians are famous for is idli. Hot rice and lentil cakes steam cooked and served with dollops of butter/ghee and spicy chutney and yummilicious sambar can make anybody's mouth water. This wholesome nutritious food is also low in calories.
On World Idli Day 2018, here's a look at what Twitterati is talking about this...
Today is #WorldIdliDay in honour of my favourite daily breakfast food! Began my day in Thiruvananthapuram as usual with idlis. Always marvel at the ancient geniuses who invented this greatest of all foods.... pic.twitter.com/ciUTBd9CET

#WorldIdliDay | The earliest mention of idli is found in a 10th-century Kannada text. But did the steamed dish originate in the Indian subcontinent at all? pic.twitter.com/B6nhbsENhz

I like the Sanskrit word for Idli- Idarika :-) But please, cheese and chocolate is not idli. Also Manchurian Idli is an abomination. #WorldIdliDay https://t.co/oaXHA18BQi
