Woman, kid die in queue in Tirumala

A mother and her one-year-old son died of electrocution in queue complex in Tirumala on Monday night.

Venkatesh, his wife Lakshmi and came to Tirumala on Monday along with their two children. They were from Ramamjeri village of Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu.

They entered the queue complex at 7.30 pm on Monday. While waiting in the queue line, they came into contact with a live wire. Due to electrocution, both Lakshmi and their one year old son Mahesh died on the spot.  The TTD officials stopped the power supply in the area immediately and rectified the mistake.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed shock and grief over the tragic death of a woman and her one year old son.

The chief minister spoke to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Executive Officer M G Gopal over phone and inquired about the incident. He directed the EO to take foolproof measures to ensure such incidents did not recur.

TTD EO M.G.Gopal has announced an ex gratia of Rs. 8 lakhs to the family of Lakshmi, who died of electrocution at a queue complex in Tirumala.
