Khammam: Whatsapp's encryption technology seems to have come as a boon for sex rackets with rampant mushrooming of brothels, according to media reports. It is learnt that Khammam has emerged as the centre of these sex rackets. It is further learnt that pimps station themselves mostly at lodges and hotels where businessmen tend to stay. They show these visitors photos of girls on mobile phones to lure them and settle on an amount. Kothagudem, Sathupalli, Manuguru, Yellandu, Paloncha and Bhadrachalam areas seem to be the targeted regions for prostitution centres, it is learnt. With some people leading a luxurious lifestyle in Kothagudem, Manuguru and Sattupalli, it is being said that they are thriving on account of a flourishing sex racket.

According to media reports, pictures of girls are sent through Whatsapp and the deal then struck. The amount in question is said to range from Rs.1000 to Rs. 5,000 per hour and Rs. 10,000 to Rs.30,000 for a day-night long time with the sex worker. Most of the pimps are said to be from across the state's border, some of whom took to flesh trade for easy money.

The modus operandi is to bring girls from other places and rent houses in decent neighbourhoods to lure clients. The operators of these sex rackets reportedly change their location once in 4-5 months. Some of these brokers are said to ferry sex workers to the clients in their cars.

Most of the sex workers come from an impoverished background, while some are students, it is learnt. Sex workers are learnt to be influencing other women and turning pushing them into flesh trade. They are thus turning into traffickers and enablers, sending them some of them to far-off places like Mumbai and Kolkata, according to media reports.
