Hyderabad: A three-year-old leopard was successfully rescued from an agricultural well in Nirmal village on Saturday.

Forest officials said that they heard the feline roar from the well and when they flashed light, the leopard was struggling to come out.

Residents of Rajura village say that the leopard must have slipped and fallen into the well and later informed forest officials at around 8.30 am on Saturday.

Gopal Rao, divisional forest officer, Nirmal told ToI that the well was 10-feet deep. A ladder was placed in the well and the big cat comfortably climbed it up and disappeared into Pembi range of the forest.

Forest officials said that the rescue operation was a success and said that the three-year-old female leopard was safe. They added that leopards usually stray into the area in search of food or water.

Meanwhile, villagers had swarmed into the area to catch a glimpse of the big cat.
