
Hyderabad: Heavy rains lashed parts of the city on Monday, with strong gales uprooting several trees in many areas including Amberpet and Neredmet.
Rains accompanied by hailstorm and gusty winds were reported in areas of Sainikpuri, Begumpet, Musheerabad, Himayatnagar, SR Nagar, and Moulali areas among others. With several areas being stagnated with rainwater, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) immediately swung into action and cleared the water logging regions.
An 18-year-old boy was also reportedly electrocuted in the rains.
As per the reports, the boy, the son of a police officer was walking with an umbrella in his hand on the road in SR Nagar area of Hyderabad. His umbrella is learned to have come in direct contact with an electric pole leading to his electrocution.
The police are yet to ascertain the reason for his electrocution and are looking into the nearby CCTV cameras to verify the matter. A case was registered in SR Nagar police station, where the father of the boy worked.
