Fire At Numaish Exhibition In Nampally Hyderabad, Panic Causes Stampede

Fire breaks out in Numaish

Hyderabad: A fire broke out at the Numaish exhibition grounds in Nampally, Hyderabad. Four fire engines were rushed to the spot and pressed into service to douse the fire. It is learnt that few stalls got completely burned to ashes in the accident. The fire broke out from the Andhra Bank stall and a short circuit is said to be the reason behind this fire, as per reports coming in. The exhibition was filled with people when the fire broke out. A stampede took place at the scene of accident and the details of any casualties are yet to be known.

As per latest reports,  there were no casualties in the fire mishap.  It is learned that the GHMC disaster response force too has pressed its force into service. Media reports said that at least seven people  were rushed to a nearby hospital after they suffered suffocation. Their condition is said to be stable.

Besides, several teams of firefighters water tankers too were called in to put off the flames. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is believed to have sent in water tankers to the spot of fire mishap. The police who rushed to the scene evacuated the place and also the remaining stalls while the fire personnel tried hard to prevent the fire from spreading.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Mayor Bonthu Rammohan is supervising rescue operations at the spot. Also, the Hyderabad Metro Rail offered free ride back home to all those at the Nampally grounds.

Those admitted to the hospital have been identified as Raj Kumar aged 45 and 50 year old Dilawar Hussain.  The duo was rushed to care hospital in Nampally.  Doctors have declared that the victims are out of danger.

The 79th edition of All India Industrial Exhibition which is an annual event kick-started on January 1. The Numaish (exhibition) which showcases some 2500 stalls is usually on till February 15. Some 25 Lakhs visitors are expected to attend this annual event in Hyderabad.
