Hyderabad: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assertion that YSRCP would not indulge in poaching legislators from other side of the divide, has won appreciation from several quarters from across the political spectrum.

Protesting the defections and subsequent merger of the Congress Legislative Party into TRS Legislative Party stripping off the grand-old party of the Opposition status, CPI national secretary K Narayana advised Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to learn from his young counterpart in Andhra Pradesh.

YS Jagan had made it categorical that YSRCP wouldn’t engineer any defections in Andhra Pradesh, and further pointed out that if anyone legislator still wanted to crossover, the particular MLA or MP should tender his resignation to the post and the party from which he was elected. He had asked the Speaker to disqualify such MLAs if anyone was switching their allegiance to other party without following set procedures.

Referring to this, Narayana said KCR had lot to learn from YS Jagan for truly upholding the will of people and the public representatives they had elected. KCR, however, he said was actively promoting defections in complete violation of democratic norms.

Further, he pointed out that AIMIM staking claim to Opposition status in Telangana Assembly wouldn’t do the people of any justice as they were in support of the ruling TRS.
