Hyderabad: The Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao is said to be keeping the party cadre as well as their opposition on their feet, as the last days for filing nominations are inching closer. The TRS Party chief has not yet announced the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, but he is not leaving any stoned unturned. He has started campaigns and aims to get 16 out of the 17 seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Everyone were taken by surprise when the CM, during the assembly elections, when he announced the names of 105 candidates the dissolution of the House and ended up touring the State twice even before the Opposition parties came up with their list of candidates.

TRS working president KT Rama Rao has an explanation for the delay in announcing the TRS candidates: the Chief Minister knows when and how to unleash the right horse at the right time in this political race. “Even we do not know what strategy he has in his mind until he himself reveals it,” he told the media during an informal interaction on Monday. Chandrashekhar Rao is busy trying to issue instructions to party leaders on the poll campaign on a daily basis.

However, the TRS leadership has already sent around the election material. The 11 ministers in the State Cabinet have been given respective districts to lead the election campaigns in. These leaders are being given the onus of the campaign on behalf of the TRS to ensure the victory of the party candidates.

A few sitting MPs including several aspirants whose names have been confirmed by the TRS is on a campaign spree.

Vinod Kumar and Kavitha, whose candidatures were already announced, have been campaigning ever since the Election Commission released the poll schedule. Sitting MPs — Boora Narsaiah Goud, BB Patil, G Nagesh, Seetaram Naik, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and others — are already campaigning in their respective constituencies.

“Though the names were not formally announced, several candidates have been informed about their candidature and asked to go ahead with electioneering. We also received the publicity material. We already kept our nominations ready and soon after the party president announces our names, we will file them,” said a TRS candidate.

KCR is expected to be out with the list of MP candidates within two days.

The ECI has declared holidays on March 21, 23 and 24, and so the dates left for the announcement is March 20, 22 and 25.
