December 7 General Holiday For Telangana Elections For Voting

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar has declared that the State will observe the general holiday on the election day on December 7. The State will go for polls on Friday, to elect representatives for the Legislative Assembly, which was dissolved on September 6.

The Hyderabad High Court and all the subordinate courts situated in the State will also observe the general holiday on the polling day. Meanwhile, Rajat Kumar said as per the directives of the Election Commission, orders would be issued to the IT companies situated in the State, to declare a paid holiday for the employees.

In a meeting with the IT companies, the State government officials discussed the issues with respect to the election day and clarifications regarding the operations of the companies on the day recently. The CEOs of the IT companies argued that some of the most important ongoing software projects would be affected due to a holiday. The companies situated in the city adhere to the time zones of the United States and Europe.

Rajat Kumar launched the 'Naa Vote (My Vote)' mobile app designed to help the voters participate in the upcoming elections in a better way. The voters' EPIC ( Electoral Photo Id card) number, name of the polling station, route to reach polling station, nearest station or bus stop would be accessible in the app. Also, persons with disabilities can request for pickup to the polling station.
