The Medchal assembly constituency in the undivided Rangareddy district was represented by M Sudheer Reddy of the TRS, who won over Thotakura Jangaiah Yadav of the TDP by 43,455 votes in the 2014 polls. With a large voter count of 501,180, the constituency also becomes crucial for parties with respect to their winning chances in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat, the largest constituency in Asia.

This time around, the TRS leadership roped in sitting MP Chamakura Malla Reddy, who jumped ship from the TDP to TRS in 2014, opposite former MLA from the Congress Kichannagari Laxma Reddy and BJP's P. Mohan Reddy. With the recent visit of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the constituency, the Congress cadre appears to be rejuvenated. However, analysts feel it would be anyone's win given the unpredictability pertaining to voter turnout.

The Malkajgiri assembly constituency in the undivided Rangareddy district was represented by Chintala Kanaka Reddy of the TRS, who won over BJP's M Ramachandra Rao by a thin margin of 2,768 votes out of the 393,679 total voters. In the December 7 polls, TRS's new candidate Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao will face Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) candidate Kapilavai Dileep Kumar and BJP's M Ramachandra Rao.

While Dileep Kumar has considerable support from certain sections of the constituency thanks to the Congress-TDP alliance, Ramachandra Rao has an edge over his opponents, experts say. On the other side, Malla Reddy has a good rapport with the locals, party leaders and residents from Seemandhra.
