Close Contest In Boath and Bellampalli, Results Unpredictable

25 Nov, 2018 17:52 IST|Sakshi
Congress candidate Gunda Mallesh

The Boath assembly constituency in Adilabad district was being represented by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Rathod Bapu Rao, who won in 2014 elections with a handsome majority of 26,993 votes, over Congress candidate Jadhav Anil Kumar. With a voter turnout of over 80 per cent, the 2014 election paved way for a non-Congress, non-TDP MLA for the first time in the constituency's history since inception in 1962. This time around, the Congress fielded Soyam Bapu Rao, who appears to have an edge over the TRS candidate. The TRS candidate has been hit by a swelling tide of anti-incumbency.

The Bellampalli assembly constituency in Mancherial district was swept away in the TRS wave in 2014 elections. With a vote share of 62 per cent, TRS candidate Durgam Chennaiah emerged victorious over Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate Gunda Mallesh while the Congress was reduced to a vote share of mere eight per cent. However, with Gunda Mallesh contesting the upcoming election as a Congress candidate, it becomes unpredictable as to who would win from Bellampalli this time around. The Mahakutami may swing the fortunes of Gunda Mallesh, which has made Bellampalli, a tough one to predict.
