Hyderabad: Lashing out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for making constant attempts to halt the progress of Telangana, Minister for Irrigation and senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader Harish Rao released an open letter challenging the AP CM to find fault with several allegations on issues like hindering the construction of irrigation projects in the State. Speaking at a press conference here today at Telangana Bhavan, he released a 19-page letter exposing Chandrababu's conspiracies on various issues pertaining to the State's growth post-bifurcation.

Stating that the TRS had a could not care less attitude with respect to the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) participation in the upcoming Assembly elections, Harish Rao said the objection rises from the TDP's hidden agenda of compromising on Telangana's interests. "In democratic systems, any party or an individual has a right to contest in electoral process." If the Congress-led alliance goes on to gain power, Chandrababu will exploit Telangana in irrigation, power and other sectors in favour of AP government, he added.

Referring to Chandrababu's letters to the Centre opposing Telangana's irrigation projects, the TRS leader said Chandrababu had no intention to undertake developmental activities in the State. Any political party wishes to contest elections with a vision to develop the State, but, in contrast, the TDP wants a share of power in Telangana, he accused.

By terminating the AP government's agreements with the private electricity companies, the AP CM tried to tweak the terms in AP State Reorganization Act, 2014 on the pretext of AP's shortage of power. In the context of Chandrababu's attempts to slow down the growth of the State, the TDP leaders would have to clarify on trying to halt the irrigation projects. In irrigation and power sectors, Chandrababu is desperate to get hold of the state of affairs in Telangana, he added.

Harish Rao recalled that the AP government too filed its bid to supply electricity to Telangana at a higher price, after denying to help while the farmers of the State were struggling with power cuts in 2014. As per the Reorganisation Act, Telangana was entitled to its fair share of power from Andhra Pradesh. How could Chandrababu's government offer to sell electricity after stating it fell short of power supply? he questioned.

Blaming the AP government for its intention to disturb the growth trajectory of Telangana, the Siddipet MLA mentioned Chandrababu's letters to the Centre opposing Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy projects and Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation schemes. He also raised the issue of Telangana's share of waters from the Srisailam project.
