
Khammam: With elections around the corner political leaders are seen switching their loyalties. Now it is senior leader and Ex Minister Jalagam Prasad Rao who joined the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS). This development has made TRS leaders from Sattupalli, Madhira, Palair, Wyra and Aswaraopet happy. It is in the presence of caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao this evening that Jalagam is joining the party.
Earlier, Prasad Rao hads sought Palair constiuency seat to contest from the Congress. Upon being denied a ticket, he switched over to the TRS. TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and AICC leaders were ok with his entry . But, Congress leaders MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy, former union minister Renuka Chowdhury were against his entry. Aware about this situation, care taker minister Thummala Nageswara Rao convinced Jalagam Prasad Rao to join the TRS.
Jalagam Prasad has won twice from Sattupalli constitunecy in 1983 and 1989. He has also been the minister for panchayatraj from 1990 to 1994. Uttam Kumar Reddy had asked him to join the Congress after Jalagam Prasad Rao made up his mind to join the TRS. He said, “I spoke to Uttam and told him that the time is up and I am joining the TRS. I will work to defeat Bhatti and Congress in Madhira constituency.”
