Denied TRS Ticket, Alugubelli Amarender Joins Congress

Nalgonda: Apart from a lack of clarity about the remaining 14 members who have to make it to the second list of the TRS list of candidates, there is also a serious sense of disgruntlement and growing dissent in the TRS party. For those who have not got tickets finding other pastures is the only thing left to do, and TRS dissident leader Alugubelli Amarender Reddy has gone ahead and done just that.

Unhappy with the TRS party chief KCR sidelining him, he has decided to join the Congress Party. Amarender Reddy, who had fought the election on the TRS ticket in the 2014 Assembly election, from Miryalguda was hoping that party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao would give him the ticket, but it appears that the leadership is inclined to back Nallamothu Bhasker who had won the last election in 2014 on a Congress Ticket by 6000 votes but has now joined the TRS Party. Bhaskar appears to be a hot favourite among aspirants.

Amarender Reddy initially raised his objections over the TRS allocating party ticket to Bhaskar Rao but then decided to contest as an independent. After discussions with his party cadre, he dropped the idea and is expected to join the Congress party today.

Another interesting development is that for the same Miryalaguda seat, senior congress leader Jana Reddy's son, Raghuveera Reddy is also expecting a ticket but if the rule that two persons from the same family will not be given tickets comes in, then he might be given a pass.

Zilla PariShad chairman Balu Naik has joined TRS from the Congress again in hopes of getting the Devarakonda ticket but seems to have missed out. Incidentally, he was an MLA in 2009. CPI MLA Ravindra Kumar has also joined the TRS now and given the ticket leaving Balu Naik in the fray. The Congress has now given the seat to CPI as part of seat sharing in the alliance.
