
Andhra Pradesh to constitute an Empowered Committee for scrutinising land allotment proposals, specifying that Government land shall be allotted only for public purposes.
The term 'public purpose' means strategic purposes such as armed forces, national security, infrastructure and industry, where benefits largely accrue to the general public, land acquired for resettlement and rehabilitation purposes, the order said.
The order said an Empowered Committee headed by Chief Commissioner of Land Administration will be formed to scrutinise the proposals for alienation of Government land to various industries, educational institutions, religious/charitable institutions, NGOs and private persons.
The Government land shall be allotted only for public purposes. The village or urban sites can also be allotted for planned development residential purpose for the poor and educational and health schemes, it added.
Only waste and dry lands should be proposed for alienation and wet, irrigated lands should not normally be considered for allocation. Further, environmentally sensitive and fragile areas such as, tank beds, river beds, hillocks with afforestation should not be alienated or allotted, it added.
