Shameerpet incident entirely unexpected : Commissioner

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V.Anand said that Shameerpet incident, where counterfeit currency peddlers attacked the cops on Friday night, was entirely unexpected.

The commissioner visited the SI Venkata Reddy, who is undergoing treatment at the Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, on Saturday morning.

He commended the police personnel for their retaliatory response.

“We will shift the body of police constable Eswaraiah, who died in the attack, to his native place in Srikakulam district. The attack was by Siddipet Yellam Goud gang,” said Anand.

The condition of the SI is said to be serious.

“Raghu and Nandu were taken into custody by the police and Yellam Goud and Srikanth are absconding. We have formed four police teams to nab them,” explained the commissioner.

The commissioner said that the security was beefed up at Shameerpet after the incident.
