Rats Chew Up Infant’s Body in Government Morgue

Medak: Rats chewed up the body of a three-month-old baby stored in the mortuary at Government Area Hospital in Narasapur of Medak district, on Friday.

The infant Gnathi was suffering from high fever and her mother, Surekha, brought her to Medak hospital. As her condition deteriorated, doctors suggested that the infant should be shifted to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad. However, little Gnathi passed away enroute to Hyderabad. Surekha and her husband Kishan have been living separately for sometime and had lodged complaints against eachother with the Kaudipally police. Immediately after the death of the infant, Surekha informed the Kaudipally police in order to avoid disputes with her husband regarding Gnathi's death. The police, on their part, shifted the body to Government Area Hospital in Narsapur where rats chewed on the body awaiting postmortem.
