What Is The Mystery Behind Undervaluing Agri Gold Assets, Chandrababu?

YSR Congress party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

Gullepalli, Visakhapatnam District: My Padayatra proceeded through Madugula in the morning and Pendurthi constituencies in the evening. Showers brought freshness to the air and cooled down the temperatures. Today employees of the medical and health services, students of government schools, Agrigold victims, unemployed youth waiting for DSE, and several others met me and narrated their problems to me. A heartless government creates problems for its citizens and a tyrannical rule brings only sorrows to the people. Incidence of dengue is on the rise in the agency areas of the district. Tribals from these areas, who met me today, told me this and expressed their anguish at the interference of the government towards this major problem here.

I was shocked at the insensitivity of the government when it comes to such a major health problem which is rocking north Andhra!

School children met me near Santapalem and pleaded with me holding placards, to protect government schools and poor children studying in them. Government schools in Kotapadu mandal were shut down over the past four years on the pretext of low student strength. How can the strength in schools grow when basic facilities are denied to them? If only this government showed a fraction of the interest it exhibits towards proxy corporate institutions, on government schools, things would be vastly different. Is this not true? Would this situation arise?

It is widely known that some big leaders connected to the ruling party are involved in the Agri Gold problem. The many troubles which the victims have been facing are beyond description. Each family has a sorrowful tale of its own to narrate. Marrivalasa Lakshmi’s husband enrolled many people in the scheme, being an agent himself. Hundreds of people deposited their precious savings in the firm, trusting him. He too was one of the depositors and hoped to fund his daughter’s medical education with the returns. He went bankrupt overnight when the company closed down and his daughter's medical education stopped abruptly. Jayalakshmi of Rongalinaidupalem was also today in similar situation. Her husband was also agent of Agri Gold. Hounded by victims with no end in sight, he finds himself in dire straits and hopes that better days would come and that his trouble would be mitigated. There are several others who suffered heart attacks, took their own lives or left their villages out of a sense of humiliation.

What is the government doing to solve the problem? It is as usual, trying to hoodwink the victims and attempting to strike back door details to gobble the assets and properties of the firm.

I have a question for the chief minister—your government said that it would stand by the 19.52 victims of Agri Gold and protect them. Has your government refunded the deposit to at least one victim? Is it not true that the market value of Agri Gold’s assets has been undervalued first by the CID and again by the company that came forward to take them over? Is it not true that after your midnight talks in Delhi with this company the value of these assets was further pegged down?
