TDP Manifesto Is A Compilation Of Lies, False Promises

AP Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

Mulagapudi, Visakhapatnam District: In today’s padayatra I came to understand the problems faced by tribal communities under the TDP rules as well as history of yellow leaders in the state villages. Manyapuretla village of Nathavaram mandal met me today and their statements took me by surprise. They said that the TDP workers had siphoned off money for over 100 toilets without construction and also showed existing toilets as new ones. The ruling party leaders had not spared anything. While Chandrababu was looting at top level, at the village level the TDP workers were indiscriminately looting the state.

I was pained to see tears in the eyes of a 70-year-old man from Marripalem, a victim of kidney failure. He was forced to shell out Rs 5000 per month for treatment. “The government is not paying pension because of my party affiliation. I am a poor, old and sick man. How do I live without pension?” he lamented. So is the situation of Narayanamma of Pedapudi. She is paralytic and old, but she was also not getting being paid pension, she told me while pouring out her woes.

Yet another sob story was that of Mahalakshmi from Olimi. She lost her husband and was getting widow pension since 30 years. But after TDP came to power four years ago, the pension has stopped. Asha Worker Rajeswari met me with her three-year-old daughter. The child is mentally handicapped and Rajeswari has lost her husband. She came to me requesting at least some allowance for her daughter.

It is unfortunate that the ruling TDP government is not concerned about the needy. Though it claims to have been disbursing pension to all, I have met scores of people who said that pensions had been stopped. At least 15 people meet me every day who complain about pension disbursement. All these are needy and deserving people.

The representatives of tribal community from Goligonda in Nathavaram mandal met me to share their problems under the TDP rule. Till date there has been no connectivity to their hamlets, ambulances do not come and over the last few weeks people have been battling dengue and malaria, they said. “What mistake have we done that the government doesn’t provide any kind of services, importantly medical services? So if we get ill, we have to give up hope of our lives?” they questioned.

Doctors from Narsipatanam also echoed the words of the tribal community and said that dengue and malaria were rampant in the region. They do have the facility to administer pallets. They reminded that the late Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy was concerned about the health of tribal communities and focused on providing healthcare in this region. During that time doctors worked sincerely to eradicate malaria and there was a drastic fall in dengue and malaria cases during his rule. Chandrababu government is only publicizing that it was doing a lot to contain breeding of mosquitoes, but in practice they have done nothing, they said. It was unfortunate that Chandrababu was betraying people with false promises.

I have a question for the chief minister– Diarrhea, malaria and dengue diseases come under health insurance. Your manifesto mentioned the appointment of a special DMHO at ITDA level and that more hospitals would be constructed in the tribal area. Do you at least remember these promises made in the manifesto? How should we feel about your government not bothering to appoint even malaria officers? Let alone new hospitals, these places do not even have ambulance services. What do you have to say about it? What have you done to eradicate mosquitoes?
