Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party MP Goddeti Madhavi who won from Araku Lok Sabha seat has the least declared assets of about Rs one lakh, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), a non-profit organisation that analysed candidates' declarations. The Bharatiya Janata Party Mathura MP Hema Malini is the richest woman candidate with assets worth over Rs 250 crore. She won the seat by a margin of 2,93,471 votes and retained the Mathura seat for the second time.

The India Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha elections created history with the highest number of women elected as MPs. The Parliament will now have 78 women MPs. Out of the 78, 30 won by a margin of one lakh or more. BJP's Maneka Gandhi won the Sultanpur seat in Uttar Pradesh by a margin of just over 14,500, while Ranjanben Bhatt of the BJP in Vadodara had the highest margin of 5,89, 177, among the women candidates.

In Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress Party, which swept both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls and won 22 out of 25 seats in the state has four women MPs. They are Chinta Anuradha from Amalapuram seat, KV Satyavathi from Anakapalli, Goddeti Madhavi from Araku Bapatla, and Venga Geethaviswanath from Kakinada.

Out of the four candidates, three made their political debut, while the fourth one Vanga Geetha has been a Rajya Sabha MP. In the 2014 and 2009 elections, there were three and five women MPs respectively.

In the Indian Parliament now, the youngest woman MP will be Chandrani Murmu, a 25-year-old Biju Janata Dal candidate who won the Keonjhar seat in Odisha, while the oldest is 74-year-old Congress candidate Preneet Kaur from Patiala in Punjab.
