Chennai: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy’s son Ponguleti Harsha Reddy has received summons from Chennai Customs in connection with the alleged smuggling of high-end watches.

According to reports, Harsha Reddy had bought two luxury watches Patek Philipe 5740 and Breguet 2759 worth Rs 1.73 crore and smuggled them from Hong Kong via Singapore. Based on credible inputs, the Customs officials at the Chennai airport seized these luxurious watches from a “courier” and watches dealer named Mohammed Mubeen upon his return from Singapore on February 5. Mubeen is an Indian luxury watch dealer based in Hong Kong.

The investigations have revealed that Harsha Reddy, who is the director of Raghava Projects, purchased these two expensive watches through an intermediary A Naveen Kumar and made the payments through hawala and cryptocurrency route.

Meanwhile, Harsha Reddy has denied the allegations and said the case is based on “baseless” allegations. He is currently unwell due to dengue illness, however, stated that he would appear before the Customs department after April 27.
