November 9 to 11: Dry Days in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills Ahead of By-Poll

The Prohibition and Excise Department has declared dry days in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in connection with the upcoming by-election scheduled for November 11 and the counting of votes on November 14.

As per a circular issued by Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran, liquor sales will be prohibited from 6 pm on November 9 to 6 pm on November 11 throughout the polling duration. A similar restriction will be enforced again on November 14 from 6 am until the completion of counting.

During this period, all liquor shops, bars, clubs, toddy shops, and Telangana Beverages Corporation depots within the constituency limits will remain closed. The Commissioner has instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

The enforcement of the liquor ban is in accordance with Section 135C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which mandates the prohibition of alcohol sales in polling areas to maintain order and fairness during elections.

Hari Kiran further cautioned that any violations would attract stern legal action under the relevant provisions. He also mentioned that if a repoll becomes necessary, the same restrictions would automatically apply in the affected polling zones.

The decision aims to facilitate a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process in the Jubilee Hills constituency ahead of the bypoll.
