Hyderabad: Targeting the Congress over its alleged failure to provide sufficient electricity to the farmers in Karnataka, the Telangana minister and BRS leader T Harish Rao said frequent power cuts have become a norm in Congress-ruled neighbouring state.
A video of Karnataka farmers threatening the officials of the electricity department in Vijayapura district with a live crocodile went viral. Upset with the frequent power cuts, the farmers had brought a reptile to the office and told the officials that they would leave the reptile in their office if they didn't provide interrupted power supply to the farmers. By bringing a reptile to the office, the farmers wanted to make it a point that due to lack of electricity, the dangerous reptiles were posing a serious threat to the locals.
The BRS leader claimed that Telangana is the only state where uninterrupted electricity is being provided. He said the disruptions in the power supply have plagued many states across the country. He also said the Karnataka farmers are complaining that the electricity situation has only exacerbated the Congress rule as they were getting power for 8 hours when the BJP was in power in the state.
