Focus Shifts to Telangana Rising 2047
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has consolidated his authority within the Congress and the state administration after the party’s emphatic victory in the Jubilee Hills bypoll. The landslide win has not only strengthened his leadership ahead of the upcoming local body elections but has also silenced critics within the party and the Opposition who were waiting to question his grip on governance.
Senior leaders — including a few ministers — had recently expressed indirect dissent, while BRS working president KT Rama Rao even predicted that Revanth would be removed by his own party. The bypoll verdict has served as a direct rebuttal to such claims.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy called the result “a slap on KTR’s face,” stating that voters had rejected the narrative that people were dissatisfied with the Congress government. “Credit goes to the Chief Minister for his continuous monitoring of the campaign. We will carry this momentum into the local body polls,” he told media.
Revanth Reddy’s Management Delivers Results
Breaking away from the Congress’ traditional practice of handing over bypoll responsibilities to local leaders, Revanth Reddy personally took charge of the Jubilee Hills campaign. He appointed ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and G. Vivek as in-charges well in advance, energising the cadre and tightening organisational discipline.
Despite pressure from several quarters, the Chief Minister strongly backed Naveen Yadav’s candidature. He also fast-tracked several infrastructure works in the constituency, reinforcing the message that Yadav’s victory was crucial to ensuring their completion.
During the 20-day campaign, Revanth Reddy covered every division in the constituency, even as BRS leaders tried to heckle him. He ensured that ministers and elected representatives were physically present across the lanes and bylanes of Jubilee Hills throughout the campaign period.
Minority Outreach Proved Decisive
Revanth Reddy also succeeded in consolidating the minority vote by engaging both the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and community groups beyond the party’s traditional boundaries. A key meeting of jamaats, organised by his close aide Fayeem Qureshi, significantly strengthened community support.
Qureshi, who has gained prominence after the bypoll success, said the Chief Minister directly addressed several long-pending community issues. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, in his post-result press conference, acknowledged Qureshi’s role in facilitating coordination between the community and the party.
Adding to the momentum, the Chief Minister surprised many by inducting former cricketer Md Azharuddin into the Cabinet as part of his broader minority outreach strategy.
HYDRAA Gets Public Endorsement
Another key takeaway for the government was the public endorsement of HYDRAA — Revanth Reddy’s initiative aimed at clearing encroachments from water bodies and protecting government land. BRS had attempted to frame the bypoll as a referendum on HYDRAA, but voters rejected this narrative.
“They have seen the results of our work. KTR’s attempt to demonise HYDRAA fell flat,” a senior police official said.
Focus Shifts to Telangana Rising 2047
Immediately after the bypoll verdict, Revanth Reddy convened a high-level meeting on Telangana Rising 2047, his ambitious vision to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy by India’s centenary of independence.
With a revised financing model now in motion for mega projects such as the Musi River rejuvenation and Hyderabad’s Future City, sources said the Chief Minister aims to dedicate the coming year to accelerating these initiatives while keeping governance tight and performance-driven.
