New Delhi: A day ahead of her second round of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the BRS MLC K Kavitha has moved the Supreme Court challenging the summons by the central probe agency and also sought protection from the arrest in a case related to Delhi Excise Policy case.
The Supreme Court has agreed to examine Kavitha’s plea on Wednesday. A division bench comprising of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha will hear the matter on March 24.
Seeking an urgent hearing of the plea, Kavitha’s lawyer submitted in the court that calling a woman to the office of the Enforcement Directorate is ‘completely against the law’.
Notably, Kavitha was grilled for 9 hours by the ED officials on March 11 and has summoned her again on March 16 for further questioning in the matter. During the questioning, the investigators confronted her with the statements made by Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Ramachandran Pillai, an accused in the case who was recently arrested by the investigating team.
